All-Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are used to cover a tooth that is too weak from decay to accept a filling, or that has a large break or crack in it. A crown restores a tooth to its normal shape and size while protecting and strengthening it. This helps protect the weak tooth from breakage, which could lead to the loss of the tooth.

Crowns can be matched to your natural tooth color so the fact that you have had dental work is easily concealed. Porcelain crowns can also restore stained or misshapen teeth for a wonderful smile.

Crowns are also used to anchor dental bridges to the healthy teeth on each side of a missing tooth (or teeth).

All-Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, shell like porcelain or composite material shells that are placed over the front surface of the teeth. Dental veneers are used to correct a variety of dental issues such as stained, uneven, broken or chipped teeth. They are also used to close large gaps between teeth for a flawless smile. Veneers do not require the removal of healthy tooth structure to place so it is a very minimally invasive procedure with maximum results. Due to porcelain veneers translucent qualities we can match them to your teeth for an extremely natural look.

All-Porcelain Bridges

All-Porcelain bridges are used to close spaces created by missing or misaligned teeth. They are made from strong; durable porcelain material and look just like your natural teeth. If you notice strain when biting down, pain during chewing, or difficulty in speaking due to misaligned or missing teeth, bridges might be the right option for you. Because they are semi-permanent, bridges can be removed only by a dentist but are long lasting and strong.

Lumineers

LUMINEERS® are a wonderful solution for permanently stained, chipped, discolored, misaligned teeth. They can even be used to revitalize old crown and bridgework. The team at Alexandria Old Town Dental apply these contact lens-thin “smile shapers” to teeth without any grinding or shaving of the tooth, offering a relatively painless procedure. LUMINEERS® can transform misshapen, worn teeth into a naturally beautiful smile that looks perfect for every individual. Get your perfect smile today!

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a technique used to improve the appearance of your teeth. The term “composite” refers to a tooth-colored blend of materials, either plastic or resin, which is bonded to an existing tooth. Bonding is ideal for fixing chipped or cracked teeth, hiding discoloration on the tooth’s surface, or reducing the gaps between teeth. Whatever the specific intent, composite bonding creates more esthetically pleasing teeth and a brighter smile. Unlike veneers or crowns, composite bonding requires little, if any, removal of the original tooth.

Tooth-colored fillings (bonding) can also effectively treat cavities without having to remove large amounts of the natural tooth structure. Not only do you not have those unsightly metal fillings, you also have a tooth that is much stronger.

White Fillings

Natural tooth colored fillings are used as an alternative to traditional metal amalgam fillings. Because composite fillings are bonded to a tooth only the diseased part of the tooth needs to be removed allowing the tooth to maintain much of its strength and integrity. Metal fillings are placed after removing large parts of the healthy tooth. Over time, a crown may be needed because the tooth is weaker and subsequently cracks. With natural tooth colored fillings you will have a beautiful, strong smile.
